Uplands Market…meet some of my neighbours!

Introducing 3 of my neighbours from Uplands Market!

This Saturday 24th June 9am-1pm!
With Uplands Market fast approaching, the monthly street market held in Uplands, Swansea, I thought it would be nice to introduce some other stall holders that will be there this Saturday, and if you can’t make it on person, please do check out their websites and social media. I think it’s always nice to find unique small businesses that offer something different, so I hope you enjoy finding out more about these 3 fab small businesses from my locality.

Let’s start with Little Black Hen, Alison has been running her small business from her home in Cynheidre near Llanelli for the past nine years. She is so passionate about what she does, producing jams, chutneys and fruit vinegars using the best British ingredients. Everything is made in small batches without using artificial preservatives, flavours or colourings.

Some of her earliest memories are of time spent in the kitchen with her grandparents and her mum learning to bake and to make jams and chutneys. The recipes she’s developed have been influenced by these experiences.

Alison is often asked why the business is called Little Black Hen, well she rediscovered her love of baking and cooking when she  started keeping chickens and the first chicken she had was a black pekin bantam called Little Black Hen.

Next we have Gower Lavender, who is usually located right next to me, the smell is just divine!
Gower Lavender is run by local couple Rae and Phil. They grow their lavender in a beautiful meadow in Murton, and use it to make eco-friendly products including stunning soaps, silky hand cream, natural pillow sprays, sustainable Welsh blanket lavender hearts and their new lavender syrup. Their products need to be sniffed to be believed! Come and have a try at Uplands Market, where they’ll have the full range including loads of beautifully-packaged planet-friendly gift sets.

And finally we have the lovely Gower Seaglass, a local business run by Nic. Everything on her stall is inspired by the Gower coastline. Nic is such a friendly person and we love chatting all things ceramics, she has a potters wheel and makes beautiful thrown pots with with melted seaglass in the bottom, like little rock pools!
The seaglass, seashells and driftwood are all beach-combed off the Gower coast and made into jewellery, windchimes and loads more beach themed products!
As I mentioned above she has recently added to her stall her handmade stoneware products which incorporate melted seaglass.
